Best Roast Dinners In Hackney
Here’s a little post of the best roast dinners in and around Hackney…
The Prince, Stoke Newington
Loved: Good roast potatoes, a well-balanced and enjoyable selection of vegetables, succulent pork belly, thick gravy, good beer list, gorgeous dogs, nice people serving - there's a lot to like here.
Loathed: More a case of imperfections - yorkie was a bit overdone, the pork belly was a bit too tough/dry in parts, the cauliflower cheese could do with a little more cream and cheese - and the gravy flavour did tire a tad.

INIS, Hackney Wick
Loved: Delightful service, really flavoursome roast, cumin on the cabbage, decent drinks selection, excellent desserts.
Loathed: Nothing really - small improvements are possible, the top of the yorkie was a bit dry, the pork belly had a bit too much fat in the balance.

Clapton Country Club, Clapton
Loved: Great venue, friendly staff, red wine gravy plentiful and tasty, creamed leeks and parsnips also particularly good.
Loathed: Jazz music. There's imperfections like roasties not being crispy on the outside, or crackling being a bit rubbery, but nothing to loathe per se. Cavelo nero was a tad chewy.

Barge East, Hackney Wick
Loved: The porchetta was excellent, the lamb looked even better, good beer, the service was relatable - and it is on a boat.
Loathed: Roast potatoes seemed to have seen a deep fat fryer - but they were still reasonable.

The Talbot, Dalston
Loved: My accomplice's pork belly looked stunning, the roast potatoes were actually chuffing crispy and the gravy was spot on too. Friendly service too.
Loathed: Why did Lord Gravy get a smaller gravy jug? Parsnip was undercooked, the yorkie was suffering heatlampitis, and is Neck Oil really your best shot at modern IPA?
