Roast Dinners At The Top 50 Gastropubs 2025

Roast Dinners At The Top 50 Gastropubs 2025

The 2025 edition of the Top 50 Gastropubs has been announced.

But can you get a decent roast dinner at any of them?

TL;DR Yes. But not all of them…

The Harwood Arms, Fulham

Loved: Well, the Cote De Boeuf was sensational, the vegetables all excellent with different flavours, service superb and the yorkie was stuffed.

Loathed: The yorkie was burnt and overdone...but apart from that, such a top notch meal.

The Red Lion & Sun, Highgate

Loved: Roast potatoes were actually excellent, suckling pig was dreamy, the jus really grew on me - it aged really well. Great pub too.

Loathed: Small plates, tiny jus thimbles and blunt knives. Nothing about the food itself though!

The Baring, Islington

Loved: Everything, more or less. The inside of the yorkie was soooo fluffy, and the beef was sexual.

Loathed: Well the roasties could have done with a little chuffing, and the yorkie was burnt - and tasted so in parts.

The Bull & Last, Dartmouth Park

Loved: The succulent pork belly and the imagination shown, especially for the Choucroute. And the whole venue was glorious.

Loathed: Roast potatoes were total crud. Also, £6.80 for a pint. Ouch.

The Bull And Last Sunday Roast

The Marksman, Bethnal Green

Loved: Gravy was good, if thin, yorkie was fluffy, veg broadly good and service was too. Oh and some decent beers on.

Loathed: Beef was far too chewy for a good restaurant, roasties also chewy/dry.
